table talk

Nora was playing with a girl at the park and they sat at the table with me. Whenever I sit somewhere I leave a tract. There was one on the table already and Nora says to her friend "you can have that, it has the gospel on the back".

I say " I will give you another to give her". Nora gives the girl the tract and says give it to your dad. She follows her friend to where her dad was standing and as the girl gives the tract to her dad. I am watching and listening as the girl hands the tract to her dad. Nora begins to tell the dad that the gospel is on the back and it talks about Jesus.

I tell you what there is no greater joy to see your child do the work of the Lord Jesus. I was filled with an overflowing of joy. It was Awesome!

I never tell Nora to give tracts to people she does it on her own. When I get some new tract in the mail and she says can I have one of those. I love it!

Nora is a first responder at the park when a child gets hurt. She is very compassionate no wonder she wants to share Jesus. Nora is 6 years old and wants to do what her dad does wherever we go.

He stopped awhile

As I was handing out tracts on Friday night Chris stopped and talked with me awhile. After asking him some questions I find out he has been backsliding for a few years. He had not read his bible for just as long.

I asked  Chris if he was to die right now where would he go? He did not know.

We were on the side walk on Henneppin Ave. and I said a car could lose control and kill us both and if we die without asking Christ to forgive us of our sins and trust in Him as our savior we would spend eternity in hell. There is no second chance I shared Heb.9:27  And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.

I took Chris through the law of God and showed him our fate. I then shared the gospel of Christ and told him what he needs to do and that is repent and trust in Christ.

I talked about the parachute and he would die jumping out of a plane without one. Christ is the only way to the Father and that he needs to put on Christ everyday because we cannot do this on our own merit. Chris repented gave me a hug said thank you for what I am doing and I encouraged him to read his bible as he went on his way.

Brotherly Love

The Jesus Freaks gathered once again this past Friday night. 7 of us headed for Uptown Minneapolis. We had not been to Uptown since St. Patty’s Day. The weather was perfect, and I was looking forward to the fellowship to follow.

There is special fellowship that forms each time we gather in the name of Christ. The Holy Spirit fills us and we take in the experience together. As I have gone out with the Freaks over the years, my trust in the Lord has increased over time to where nervousness and anxiety are almost non-existent. I know that the Holy Spirit will fill me with the knowledge and the words that the lost need to hear.

Greg and I walked up Lake Street to Lyndale, and up to Franklin, back over to Hennepin, and finally back to Lake and Hennepin. As we walked we handed out tracts. Some people just walk by and are not interested. Some take a tract, and keep walking. We walk with them and explain the tract – each of us has broken God’s commandments, we are sinners to be judged by God, Christ has paid our debt with his blood, and we must accept Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, and repent our sins to gain our salvation

Some folks are standing on street corners and at storefronts. This is where I approached Nick, a guy in his late 20s. He was hanging out and talking to people as they walked by, making funny comments. Greg and I approached him and upon receiving the tract, he proceeded to open up. He said, “So I have tried to do this before, the whole Jesus and God thing, it didn’t work for me because I always go back to doing the same old thing. So I am just going to wait until I am old and get right with God.” We developed a rapport and I told him “the way you are talking to people out here, you could die tonight!” He laughed because he knew I was right. I shared my own testimony with him, and my issues as a young man. We connected as he was a former Golden Gloves boxing champion, and I was also a boxer at one time. Greg and I shared the gospel with him. We spoke for a good 20 minutes. As others walked by, he hollered for them to join our conversation so that they could be “saved”.

Nick did not give his life to Christ on Friday night. But I know that the God brought our paths together, men who could relate to each other, and could speak each other’s language. I left him with a Bible, and he told me sincerely that he would read it. I believe him, and I know that if I could be saved, so could this man. Those who God is leading toward salvation are first open to hearing the message. That is always the first step.

I brought my 20-year-old brother, Eric, along with me to the streets to show him that the Holy Spirit is real, that Christ means enough to me that I tell people about it, and that there is nothing un-cool about sharing your faith in Christ with others. Below is his response to the night:

On my first day of being a Jesus Freak I initially was only going to observe. When we got downtown I saw the others in my group having fun telling people about the word of God. I then decided I would join in and speak to people about it. The people that we talked to listened and enjoyed what we said. I was surprised at their interest in our conversation. When we left, I felt like I had accomplished something good. It was a new experience for myself and I would encourage others to try it.”

Under a shade tree

The family was enjoying a quick bite to eat before we had a appointment to be at Monday evening.

I went to the counter after dinner for some of those delicious cookies and gave the gal a million dollar tract after paying for our treat. She said thank you and told me that her dad has one of these on the refrigerator at home. The gal told me that her dad got it at a parade in Champlin.

Phil and I handed out tracts at the Father Hennepin days parade 2 years ago. It was awesome we handed out 1500 tracts in 35 minutes. Parade are a great place to scatter seeds because people are waiting for something to be handed to them.

As the cashier at subway showed her co-worker the tract I told the man I will give you one too. Then as we were leaving I gave 2 tracts to some High school girls sitting having a bite to eat.

Back at the park on Sunday Nora and Wendy were playing Frisbee with one of the discs that have the gospel underneath it. Nora got bored and Wendy and I played for awhile. Off to the side of us were 3 young adults(18-21) under a shade tree doing nothing. As we finished playing catch with the Frisbee I told Wendy that I am going to give this Frisbee to those under the tree.

As I approached the three I said I see that you guys aren't  doing anything so I am giving you this frisbee to have. They said thanks as I explained that there was a gospel tract on the bottom. Then I proceeded to take out the 3 million dollar bills and gave them each one. I explained the message on the back and the girl said were you just down in Minneapolis? Yes, I was.  You gave one of these to me in front of a restaurant.

As we left they started playing frisbee. Praise Jesus!!

We are seeing God work powerfully in our mission. We cannot and will not stop the advancement of the Kingdom!

brother Farhad

08/24/12                                  A Page From My Notebook

"If you are born once you'll die twice, but if you are born twice, you'll die once"

It's so obviously imperative to know that physical birth leads to death but spiritual birth leads to life. We are not even in charge of our physical birth how can we manage our spiritual birth? Well, this indeed poses a mental conundrum to a certain extent, but I am willing to ma
k
e an effort to unfold the mystery of what it means to be spiritually born? As we know, physical birth leads to death. We are born, we grow, we get old and ultimately we die; it's an irrevocable process. No matter what we do, we can not simply stop it from happening. Our Natural death is not a result of an evolutionary process, it is a result of our sin against God. There was a time when two human beings ( Male & Female ) were created in paradise and they were pure and obedient to God. At one point of their existence in paradise, Satan tempted these two pure humans , they were ultimately induced by Satan to disobey God. God is Holy , it means he CAN NOT tolerate sin / unholiness in heaven. Hence, God abandoned them and gave them over to their depraved minds, they were basically escorted out of heaven. That is why we die physically. The drama doesn't end there, our spirits will appear before God for the ultimate judgement. Remember, we were born physically and we die ...all of our efforts, hard works, going to church, going to the Mosque would not be good enough to compensate for God's wrath. God sees our filthy hearts. The cosmetically superficial things that we do such as fasting, giving charity, pretending that we are loving can not masquerade the depth of our sin or wickedness. Therefore, we need to be spiritually born again; meaning to be transformed by God's grace. In essence, God is the Only One who can grant us a regenerate heart so we can see the depth of His holiness . His redemptive Plan for the entire humanity comes through His Holy and Righteous son Jesus Christ so whoever believes in Him shall not perish but live abundantly and eternally. Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies" John 11:25

Here is another version of it, but the meaning is the same: "Yeshua said to her, “I AM THE LIVING GOD, The Resurrection and The Life; whoever trusts in me, even if he dies, he shall live.” John 11:25
The world can not understand this because they are not invited into the light by the Holy Spirit. You can not see God's mysteries, holiness, and justice unless God opens up the eyes of your heart.

As always, Love you all unconditionally!

the Park

The family was at the Crooked lake park yesterday playing Frisbee and bags. With all the people walking around I was anxious to just go and talk to them Jesus.

I would hand out a tract as someone would walk by trying to stay focused on playing doubles in bags. The other players knew what I was doing and were very patient with me and would wait until I would finish a witness with strangers.

A man was walking right toward us on the path with his two dogs. I noticed he was wearing a cross around his neck and asked if he was a christian? He replied with a no but it is meaning a lot more to him lately. I handed him a tract and continued to witness to him. This man was broken and God had been speaking to him through various individuals. He had told me that two friend had just died and was struggling to make sense of it all.

He had told me that this was no accident that we were talking. I agreed and told him that God was calling out to him. As I continued to speak with Ryan I knew God was speaking to him through me, it was awesome.

I asked if I could pray for him as he was leaving and we did. I gave Ryan my email address on the tract I gave him. I told him keep in touch with me he said expect an email soon.

We should always make an effort to share the Gospel no matter what we are doing.
Mark 16:15He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation."

Go and do likewise. Mike

One plants the other one waters

As the seven of us searched for lost souls Friday night on the streets of south Mpls.. I was reminded with this scripture as I read the following day.
John 5:34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. 35 Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. 36 Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. 38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.”
The night was filled with exactly as the verses describe. I spoke with Nancy and her sister for a 1/2 hour explaining our fallen state before God and where we would spend eternity as a result of decisions we make everyday without Christ as our Savior. As I was witnessing to Nancy I could see that it concerned her as she wept and thanked me for taking the time and sharing with her what she needs to do to get right with God.
There were so many encounters that night and you could feel the Spirit moving in the streets. It was purely Awesome! To think God uses a bunch of nobody's to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ is amazing. I am honored to do the work of the evangelist.
